Deepest sympathy is extended to Lee Robinson and her family, as her mother Irene Tapper passed away on Nov. 21 at the age of 102. “Granny” was well known and loved by many in our community. Our hearts are with her family at this sad time.
On Saturday evening, the gang at Mountainview Turf celebrated another great season with our annual Christmas Party. The party was held at Gavan’s Hotel, where they served us a delicious roast pork dinner. A draw was held for several amazing prizes, and owners Jared and Lindsay Hamilton presented several team members certificates for years of service: Brandon Campbell for 10 years, yours truly for 20 years, and Roger Trudeau for 25 years. The team, in turn, presented Jared and Lindsay with a gift of a charitable donation in their honour, which will be passed on to the Quyon Family Centre for their Snowsuit Fund. Once the presentations were over, the band Chicken Fried took the stage and had the crowd up dancing in no time. It was a fantastic evening, and everyone had a wonderful time.
Birthday wishes are going out to Karen Knight on Nov. 27, to Bonnie Fraser-Dowe on the 28th, and to Chris Dowe on the 29th. Happy birthday to Presley Thomson on Nov. 30, and to Thomas Hamilton on Dec. 2. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
A reminder to all that we have some great Christmas events coming up in town in the next few weeks.
On Dec. 2, the Quyon Pastoral Charge will be hosting a Christmas House Tour, visiting the homes of Marise Gauthier and Brian Beaudoin, Martine Perrier, Caryl and André Côté, and Anik and Stephane Monast. Then on the 6th, the Pontiac Community Players will be performing their live radio play The Princess and the Goblin at Quyon United Church, and we invite all to join us for the show. Free will offering will be accepted, but not expected.
Don’t forget that Santa Claus will be coming to town, as the Quyon Lions Club will be hosting the Parade of Lights on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.. It is always such a festive evening, and the children will be so thrilled to see Santa, as well as the other entries in the parades. Get those floats ready, folks. We can’t wait.
