Once again the truck and tractor pull is coming to the Shawville Fair. According to co-organizer Jeff Hannaberry, the “Truck pull brings out local guys for bragging rights to show off their trucks and put a show on and enjoy the evening.”
They’ll be tearing up the pitch as usual but this year the organizers have made some changes to ensure things run smoother and safer. They are asking all competitors to please bring helmets and a Reese hitch receiver. “10 per stock class 1/2t gas3/4tgas and street diesel class,” Hannaberry said in a statement.
Drivers will meet at 6:40 pm and everyone will be registered before then.
The tractor pull attracts all sorts of people. Some put a lot of work into modifying tractors to the limits of mechanics and engineering, and others “will take their pride and joys that they work on daily out for a rip and an adrenaline rush, goin’ down the track,” Hannaberry said.
The official opening of the Truck and Tractor pull ring is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. with the first pulls starting immediately after at 7:15 p.m.
