Residents of Norway Bay gathered on Saturday for the “Great Norway Bay Garage Sale”.
The concept was simple and effective. Participants paid money and in return they received an official vendor sign. The vendors were then placed on the garage sale map making it easy for shoppers to locate them.
The sale was organized by Lana Marie Cowley as a fundraiser for the Norway Bay Municipal Association and the Bristol market.
“[There was a] huge turnout,” said Cowley, “there were approximately 50 vendors.”
People walked, drove, and rode their bikes around Norway Bay, shopping and socializing as they went.
The shopping culminated at the Norway Bay public beach where hot dogs were available for purchase as an additional fundraiser. Even local businesses donated to the cause as the hot dogs were donated by Curtis Young of Young appliances, and the buns were donated by Joanne Dumouchel of Joanne’s Valumart.
This is the fourth year that this event has taken place. Future similar events will be advertised on the Norway Bay Community Facebook page.
