After an abrupt road closure that resulted in a 50 km detour to Otter Lake, rte. 301 has opened a week ahead of schedule.
Last Friday afternoon, the MTQ sent out a press release updating the road’s status (translated from French). “Please note that Route 301 in Thorne is now open to traffic in both directions.”
When reached for comment, MNA André Fortin was happy to pass on the good news. “The culvert was completely replaced,” he said. “All that is left is the paving.”
According to Fortin, the section of road affected, about a dozen metres, is covered in gravel and paving is expected to begin in two weeks.
