An act of kindness

An act of kindness

The Equity

Last Wednesday, June 12 during the Fort Coulonge council meeting, council members were pleasantly surprised by a very generous and true act of kindness. Two students from Bishop Smith Catholic High School in Pembroke, Ont. presented a $535.80 donation to the municipality.

Aware that flooding was affecting several surrounding communities, Reese Lythgoe and Meghan Maynard quickly decided that they wanted to do something to help.

They chose to organize a benefit concert to help two of the affected municipalities. The girls devoted many hours to organize the event and many people joined in the effort. The event was a success.

The two students divided the proceeds of the event and offered half to the municipality of Fort-Coulonge and the other to the Township of Whitewater Region.

On behalf of the municipality, council expressed their gratitude and congratulated the two young ladies for their thoughtfulness and wonderful work.

Submitted by Ellen Boucher, Director General Secretary Treasurer, Municipality of Fort-Coulonge.
