Hunter Lukacs-Hitz enjoys playing hockey for the camaraderie of being on a team, as well as the opportunity to always better your skills through practice. He knows the only limit on his potential is his own creativity for plays and maneuvers on the ice. He credits hockey for teaching him what it means to be a team player. Lukacs-Hitz has come to learn that the game isn’t just about scoring, but also passing and supporting your teammates. As well, he’s grown to understand that not every loss is a reason to be hard on yourself, but a chance to reflect on what can be done better next time.
Currently a grade 10 student at PHS, Lukacs-Hitz plans to try out for other teams but hasn’t ruled out joining the Lions once again next year. According to the coach, he’s a determined defenseman who gives 100 per cent each shift, as he always comes to the rink with his “game on.” He said Lukacs-Hitz is a competitive player with a solid shot that’s sure to find the net. He added that the player is always looking out for his teammates, whether it be making them laugh or getting all the details on a new piece of equipment.
