Another fire erupted in the early morning hours of Jan. 19 in Breckenridge. It’s the third fatal fire in less than two months in the Municipality of Pontiac.
Firefighters got the call around 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and fought the blaze most of the day until it was finally under control around 3 p.m.
According to Municipality of Pontiac Fire Chief Richard Groulx, flames were coming out of every opening on the house when firefighters arrived.
Groulx said that firefighters had a tough time bringing the inferno under control as they had to contend with two vehicles in the home’s garage as well as two more in front of it that were engulfed in flames.
“We had to extinguish the cars as well as the house,” he said.
Once the fire was out, firefighters were able to enter the residence where they found a body around 8 p.m., at which point MRC des Collines officers were called.
According to Groulx, the fire started in the garage and the cause is not criminal.
MRC des Collines police did not respond by press time.
