Pontiac Lions Bantam B ended the 2018 regular season game with glorious win.
On Saturday, Dec. 22, Bantam B hosted a challenging game versus the Maniwaki Mustangs.
Maniwaki Mustangs are placed second in the division and Bantam B held the bottom ranking going into this match. The Bantam Bs have trained, made changes to the lines and came with big intentions to deploy new skills and plays to leave their five game losing streak behind them.
This match was high tempo through all three periods. Starting off the first period, Lions’ winger, Jake Larocque, buried one in the back door of the goalie with the assist of a wraparound from fellow winger, Travis Hines.
Second period, the first line rushed the net at rocket speeds and found Landen Richardson, from the point, sniping one on the goalie creating a rebound for Dominic Woermke, to make a mid-air deflection into the net.
Then, with focus and seeing the lanes wide open, from the linesmen covering, defenceman, Michael Findlay rushes the puck up and slaps one in the net from the blue line. Successfully, three forwards, rushed the net in sequence and pace.
The puck was deep in the corner. winger, Alexis Chartrand, strategically passed a sharp hard pass back to the defense at the blueline. Defenseman, Michael Findlay, let one rip on the goalie to find the back of the net.
In the final period, the game held a back and forth pace. With a great show of strategic back checking, determined defense and multiple glove saves by affiliate goalie, Bennett Rusenstrom, the Lions held the Mustangs at bay.
Bantam B found themselves scrambling the goalie with traffic and the puck was deep in the left corner. Winger, Noe Giroux, assisted with a quick pass back to defense and Michael Findlay hustled a one-timer from the top of the left circle, finding its way to the back of the net.
With two minutes left, the Lions worked hard at holding the lead, finishing with a 5-1 victory vs Maniwaki Mustangs. What a glorious way to finish 2018 and head fresh into 2019.
The Bantam B Team is looking integrated and delivered some nice looking hockey. Coach Craig commented, “Every single player’s hard work they put in payed off and pushed them over the top.”
The Lions are charged and looking forward to the last five games of regular season in 2019.
