The Pontiac Senior Comets are bolstering their numbers as they draft five new players from what was previously the Cumberland Bandits team in the Outaouais Senior A Hockey League (LSHAO).
The local boys will see three new forwards and two new defensemen join their roster, after having the third pick in the draft following the team’s dissolution on Nov. 29.
Pontiac Senior Comets owner Danick Boisvert said the third pick in the draft allowed them to snag Philippe Drouin from the Bandits. Drouin is a defense player with experience playing in the NCAA and in France.
Drouin will be taking the place of former Comets’ defensman Johney Cormier, who has left the team.
The Comets also picked up defenseman Miguel Laurin, and forwards Gabriel Laurin, Stephen Blunden and Brandon Pfanner.
“I think it will help if they come,” said Boisvert. “I don’t know how committed they are, but we’ll see.”
Boisvert is expecting the new players to begin practicing with the Senior Comets this week.
This dissolution of the Bandits sees five teams remain in the LSHAO.
