Dear Editor,
As reported in a recent edition of THE EQUITY, Canada’s Auditor General has said that the government is not doing enough to improve access to high speed internet in rural areas. I have been traveling across the Pontiac and everyone is telling me that we need better high speed internet and cell service. It’s time something was done about this.
For more than three years, the Liberal MP here has refused to make access to high-speed internet a priority. We are soon to be in 2019 and our region is not far away from the capital of our country. All we have gotten are promises that something will be done years from now and nonbinding motions made in the House have not helped our problem one bit.
Rather than tabling motions with no real significance, the Liberal MP should take the bull by the horns and turn words into concrete actions. We need clear and precise commitments that the infrastructure we need must be built as quickly as possible. We need to make some noise on this issue.
Justin Trudeau’s Liberals are racking up massive deficits for our country but the Pontiac is still getting nothing in return except for debt. I don’t want my children to be paying for this debt when they get older.
The Liberal MP here has been in office for more than three years now and the situation surrounding high speed internet has not changed. I ask that you think about this before going to vote in next year’s federal election. If you elect me in 2019, I will not wait three years to get started at my job.
