FORT COULONGE
Nov. 25, 2018
Sunday saw the return of one Christmas market to Fort Coulonge, albeit under new management.
When the original organizer decided to step back from arranging for the show at the Club de l’âge d’or, two new entrepreneurs took their place to ensure it keeps running.
Filling the club with more than 10 vendors, as well as running their own booths, Michelle Bourgoin and Daniele Rousseau were proud to have the market return once again to Fort Coulonge.
While they’re not new to organizing similar events, being the first year to arrange the Christmas show, they wanted to make sure it was a standout one.
Rousseau explained that they were strict in creating diversity among the vendors’ products, featuring everything from jewellery and preserves to Tupperware, cleaning supplies, books and leggings. They also held a non-perishable food drive, collecting in support of the Maison de la Famille de Fort Coulonge.
As well, the show offered a unique opportunity to one young entrepreneur from the area. Fifteen-year-old Celeste Beland made her debut appearance at the show, selling a wide variety of baked goods, often done up in holiday themes.
She explained that the table was offered to her when the organizers were coming up short on vendors. Since she had wanted to give it a shot, she agreed, and based off how Sunday went, looks forward to joining more shows in the future.
