The boys put this to the test and ended up with a tie as the result of hard work and never giving up. Bryce Hudson scored the first goal in the first period setting the tone for Tristan Queale who scored the second goal and then Brady Kilroy scored the third and final goal that tied the game! Way to go Lions!

Pontiac Lions Novice C
The Pontiac Lions Novice C team had an amazing game on Nov. 24, earning a 4-1 win over the Gatineau Patriots in Shawville.
Iyla Smith and Ben Richardson took turns out-skating the pack resulting in two points each. A great job by the defence, Maverik Maxsom, Stefania George, Sydney Newberry and Parker Alexander who helped keep the lead and get the puck to the forwards.
On Nov. 25, Farley Smith tied up a very close game in the second period and Richardson, assisted by Quinton Smith, brought the Lions to a one point lead. Despite best efforts, the Cougars scored two points in the third and won on their home ice. We will get them next time.

Pontiac Lions Atom A
The Pontiac Lions Atom A team skated away with a home win 4-3 against the Gatineau Cougars on Saturday.
Pontiac scored early in the first period. Matthew Kavanagh scored the goal assisted by William O’Malley. The Cougars battled back and scored three unanswered by the end of the first period.
These Lions tend to come in strong in the second period every game and Saturday was no different. Mathis Lafontaine scored just 30 seconds in to make it 3-2. The goal was assisted by Garrett Rusenstrom and Maxime Letang. Taytum Thompson scored while short handed with just seconds left in the second period to tie the game. Jackson Armstrong made some great saves to keep it tied for most of the third. Thompson came up big again scoring an unassisted goal to give the Lions the lead late in the third. The final was 4-3 Lions. A solid effort by the entire team to come back and get the win against the #2 Atom A team.
The team travelled to Maniwaki for a date with the Mustangs on Sunday, the number one ranked team in Atom A. The Lions gave their fans an exciting 4-4 tie.
Maniwaki got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period. Thompson scored seconds later to square up the game at 1-1, assisted by Maxim Renaud. The Mustangs took over the game late in the first scoring three more for a 4-1 lead.
The Lions roared back in the second period with a game-changing shorthanded goal by Rusenstrom followed by another shorthanded goal by Lafontaine getting the Lions back in the game.
The third period was a tight battle but the Lions players were on fire. Pierce Rusenstrom scored with just seven seconds left for the tie in what was a hard fought game.

Pontiac Midget A Lions
The Midget A Lions team are the St. Isodore Tournament Champs.
The Midget A Lions travelled to St. Isodore, Ont. this past weekend to participate in their Midget House Tournament. On Friday, the Lions met with the Ottawa West End Wild where former Lion Owen Ballard is now playing. The Lions started off the scoring in the first period with goals from Evan Atkinson assisted by Thomas Beck and Tyler Stanton.
The Wild found themselves in the penalty box quite often which facilitated the win for the Lions. Two more points were added to the scoreboard for the Lions by Atkinson and Stanton with helpers Harry Lukacs-Hitz, Connor Gilpin and Carson Rusenstrom. Game MVP was awarded to Atkinson.
On Saturday, the Lions faced off against the Cumberland Dukes. The teams were well matched and the Lions had the fans on the edge of their seats as it seemed to take the players a bit of time to find their groove.
Late in the first period, Lukacs-Hitz opened up the scoring on a pass from Atkinson. The fans let out a cheer and sighed with relief. The second period saw two more pucks get past the net minder. Goals went to Atkinson on an assist from Gilpin, and Willis Egan got the third and final goal of the game on a cross ice pass from Nick Curley. Game MVP went to Egan.
On Sunday, the Lions third game was indeed the final A Championship game of the tournament. The third day of any tournament is always a tough one for players. Coaches made sure the boys had some team building and some down time in order to prepare. The boys didn’t disappoint.
The players on both benches were well disciplined and rallied hard. The Lions’ Rusenstrom, scored early to take the lead and set the tone for the game. Although Kaelen Ireland faced many shots, he was able to once again shut out the opposition. Other goals came from Atkinson assisted by Stanton and Cole Sheppard; a shot from Jaden Steward bounced in unassisted; and Rusenstrom assisted by Atkinson rounded out the scoring.
The Lions brought home the Championship banner with a final score of 4-0. Game MVP went to Kaelen Ireland who was solid in net with three shut outs in the tournament.
