A large pile of illegally dumped garbage on Picanoc Road was discovered by MRC Pontiac staff and images of the mess have angered residents.
The images were posted on the MRC Pontiac social media page and are accompanied by a brief description of the site.
The illegal dumping site contains household garbage, recyclables, appliances, furniture and construction waste.
The garbage was found near the 31 km mark on Picanoc Road.

The MRC had previously placed two garbage bins at the site so that residents of the Non Organized Territories (TNO) could dispose of their garbage.
Although there were signs indicating that only household garbage would be accepted, non-household garbage continued to be dumped there.
The MRC was forced to close the site in 2017.
The MRC pointed out that, following an agreement signed between the municipality of Otter Lake and the MRC, residents of the TNO that are served by Picanoc Road can dispose of their household waste for free at the municipal reception site at 577 Hwy. 301 North.
Additionally, TNO residents served by Bois Franc Road can dump their household garbage at the Mansfield et Pontefract reception site, those from Schyan can use the Sheenboro reception site and those using Rapides Road can use the one at Rapides des Joachims.
The MRC says this is just one of “many uncontrolled dump sites in MRC Pontiac forests.”
Municipalities in the MRC Pontiac are responsible for the collection and reception of household waste.
The waste collected by municipalities is sent to the Clarendon transfer station and then shipped to the technical landfill site in Lachute.
The Clarendon transfer station is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays. It also has a bin just inside the gate for after-hours drop offs.
