BRISTOL Nov. 11, 2018
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of November, 100 years after the end of the First World War, Bristol held a Remembrance Day service honouring past and current Canadian service men and women.
“Today marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War,” said Deacon Bob Farmer who lead the service on Sunday morning to a crowd of over 100 people at the Bristol cenotaph.

“You know them [veterans] that we owe a debt of gratitude for the freedom we enjoy in this country,” said Farmer.
“O Canada” started the service accompanied by Laird Graham on keyboard and was followed by a recording of the “Last Post” then two minutes of silence.
Wreaths were laid by Bristol Mayor Brent Orr and councillors Debbie Kilgour, Brian Drummond, Archie Greer and Greg Graham, Randy Russell and his cousin Ellen Russell-Deeble on behalf of Bristol Memorial Presbyterian Church, Paul Whynacht and representing Bristol Girl Guides were Sparks Roslyn McCann and Eloisa Thompson and Brownie Charlotte Dowe.
Bill Smith read the poem “In Flanders Field” to those gathered.
The crowd joined in singing “Amazing Grace” before warming up and enjoying a light lunch at the Bristol Memorial Presbyterian Church.
