MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC Oct. 31, 2018
The Municipality of Pontiac is finally set to repair the damage done to Alary Road one year ago.
The flooding that occurred on Oct. 30 last year washed out a significant chunk of Alary Road leaving a massive 20-foot gap in the roadway.
According to a motion passed by council on Oct. 9, the municipality accepted the lowest bid, tendered by Gauvreau Terre de Surface for a cost of $612,393.
The main reason for the delay was coordinating with the provincial government.
The Ministry of the Environment had to validate the plans and specifications of the project before it could go ahead.
The municipality has also contracted consulting firm Quadrivium to oversee the project and make sure it complies with the plans. It will cost the municipality $22,856 for Quadrivium to supervise the work.
The ministry also requires the municipality to install a protective liner at a cost of $10,522.
Representatives from the municipality did not respond by press time.
