Concerning healthcare, the region is currently losing nurses to the other side of the river. After a few meetings with local unions, it seems that the best way to solve the issue would be to: make the recruiting process for nurses easier and less harsh. Some nurses can wait up to four years before getting a call back.
The renovation of the Hull hostpital to accomodate the patients in a healthier environment seems to be the best way to upgrade the quality of the given services at that location. Otherwise, we support the decentralisation of the healthcare system in the region. The superclinic only helped bleeding the Hull hospital from its doctors and specialists. We support bringing back the services to the CLSCs making it easier to get specific services without going to the hospital. It would also bring services to the MRC-Pontiac. The Shawville hospital parking lot should also be free, especially for the employees.

Organizations such as Transporaction should get a bit more help from the governement as they are a viable and healthy solution to the transportation problem in the MRC Pontiac.
We believe that auxiliary nurses are important to our staff problem in the region and that the Université du Québec en Outaouais should, in the near future train more than 25 nurses a year. We support the “Outaouais Bonus” for nurses as the reality of the region is very specific and we must stay competitive with Ottawa is we want to retain our nurses.
All that being said, we do not support the construction of a third hospital in the region as the ones we currently have aren’t fully staffed with some wings actually closed, including the “Centre de debordement” which only lacks a handful of nurses and some equipment.
