It was a great day for a ball tournament on Saturday as the Quyon Sports and Recreation hosted a year end round robin tourney for the minor ball players at the ball diamonds in Quyon. The teams from Quyon and Shawville battled it out against each other in several different age divisions. Kudos to all of the volunteers, coaches and players who participated. It was a great way to cap off their summer. Well done to all involved.
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of being a guest at Kennedy Cove on Otter Lake. My friends Adam Johnston and Sue Chabot were the winners of a pontoon ride hosted by Wayne Ramsay and Brenda Clarke in a past Canada Day Committee auction. I was so excited to be invited to join them. We were also joined by Ian Dagenais and Sarah McKenny and we all enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and scenery as we spent hours out touring the lake, swimming and just having a great time.

We returned at dusk to enjoy a delicious barbecue on the deck and we were treated like royalty by our amazing hosts. A big thank you to Wayne and Brenda, Jack and Anne, Donna and Ellard, Sally and Betty for the wonderful day. It was just perfect.
While we were visiting Kennedy Cove we also made a trip next door to Randy Young’s corn roast. The music was great as Reg Carkner, Rolly Bernier and friends were entertaining the crowd and keeping the toes tapping. It was a wonderful summer night in the company of great folks.
Belated anniversary wishes are going out to Joanne and Brian McMurray as they celebrated on Aug. 19.
Happy belated birthday to Wayne Hobbs as he also celebrated on Aug. 19. We have birthday wishes going out to Garry Trudeau on Aug. 23 and to Lynn Leach, Melinda Provost and Donald McKenny all celebrating on Aug. 25. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
The Quyon Flyers had a make up game scheduled for last Thursday that ended up being cancelled due to lack of players and there have been changes in the schedule for this week as well. It looks like they are playing away on Wednesday night in a double-header against the Kars Aces, and then they will host the Micksburg Twins on Thursday in Quyon at 8 p.m. To keep up to date on changes to the schedule, please visit the website gofl.ca.
