The Lutheran Church held their annual memorial service and supper this past Sunday, Aug. 5. There was a large attendance and it was a very nice service. Rev. Ted Heinze was the pastor and Roy Bretzlaff was the organist. The singers were Louise Donaldson, Bob Risnick and Philip Holmes and they sang “How Great Thou Art”, which was just beautiful. Also, Roy Bretzlaff was another one of the singers.
The cemetary looked lovely with flowers placed on the graves of loved ones gone on before. After the service, a delicious meal was served in the church basement. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship and meeting old friends and relatives that they haven’t seen in a while.
The Ladysmith Flea Market is still having great sales and we only have two more Saturdays left now, the last one being Aug. 18. All the items sold each week are replaced with new ones. Everyone seems to be very happy with some unique things they find.
Last week I took out a six gallon stone crock and an old wooden nail barrel and within the first hour they were sold. This weekend there will be more interesting items.
My sister Beulah from Rankin, Ont. just spent the past wekend with us and she will be back again in two weeks.
The Golden Age Club in Otter Lake will be having their BBQ dinner on 18 Aug. and Beulah will be here to come to it. We always enjoy this annual dinner.
Don’t forget cards and darts continue each week in Otter Lake at the R.A. Centre put on by the Golden Age Club. Cards Tuesday night at 7 p.m., darts Thursday night at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome.
The weather is continuing to be very hot but at least we are getting some rain. The gardens are doing fairly well. I still water my plants around the house and I have cucumbers and ripe tomatoes on my plants in containers.

Happy birthday to Leona Tanner who celebrates Aug. 13 and to Andrew Hodgins on the same date.
Happy anniversary to Bonnie and Jim Hodgins who celebrate Aug. 11. Also to Rilla and Elgin Graham who celebrate Aug. 13, and to Nancy and Tom Beverdam who are also on the 13.
