We were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Fr. Howard Chabot on June 26. He was to say the Canada Day Mass in Sheenboro on the weekend. He was so looking forward to celebrating his 50th anniversary in the fall.
Lorna and Vince Agnesi were so happy to have a surprise visit from Jimmy McHale from Douglas and his four sisters last Saturday. Their brother John McHale was married to Rose Marie Brennan. It is always a pleasure to see the McHales.
Birthday greetings go out to Roddy Morris on July 5 and to Gerald Wheeler on July 8.
Canada Day in Sheen saw decreased attendance due to the extreme heat but it didn’t stop Lorraine Carroll from cooking up her French fries. Sheenboro was very happy to acknowledge the presence of our provincial MP André Fortin who took part in the parade. He, along with retired RCMP Cam Croal, Dan Cameron, Gilles Dupuis and I, walked in the parade. MRC Warden Jane Toller, Mayor Jim Gibson of Rapides-des-Joachims and Mayor Winston Sunstrum of L’Isle-aux-Allumette also attended the celebrations.
On June 30, for the fireworks at The Fort, we had the pleasure of having our Federal MP Will Amos. The Pontiac, as we all know, is a large area and it takes a well-planned schedule for those people to make all the events. A “Tip of the Hat” to the planners.
The Canada 50/50 in Sheen was won by Lorraine Dubeau.
