A big congratulations to all of the graduates in our area for their amazing accomplishments. It was such fun last week to see the photos shared on Facebook from friends, celebrating their grads of all ages – kinder grads, grade 6 grads and high school grads. Well done to all of you. I’d like to give a special shout-out to my nephew Caden Provost. He graduated Grade 6 from Eardley Elementary in Aylmer and received the Citizenship Award and Male Athlete of the Year. I hope all of the students had a wonderful year, and now enjoy the summer.
On Saturday evening, I joined a group of friends at a bachelorette party in honour of Stacy Johnston. She and Ricky Belland are getting married in July so we took the opportunity to celebrate with the bride-to-be. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Milestone’s in downtown Ottawa and then went on a Rideau Canal boat cruise. We all had a terrific time and we are looking forward to Stacy and Ricky’s big day.
Birthday wishes are going out to Avery Richardson and Eddie McCann, both celebrating on June 27 and also to Emily McCann on June 28. I’d also like to send birthday wishes to Daniel Dowe on July 3. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
The Quyon Flyers played at home last Thursday against I4C Victory and they tied that game at 5. They are at home again this Thursday against the Stittsville 56’ers, game time is 7:30 pm. This is great men’s fastball being played right here in Quyon so come on out and cheer on the home team. They are sitting atop the standings of the GOFL and are having a great season so far.
I hope everyone has a great time at the Quyon Jamfest this weekend. There is a great line-up of entertainment set for the weekend, and I’m sure the grounds will be full of campers. Have a safe and wonderful weekend.
One of my favourite days of the year is almost here. Quyon is always a great place to celebrate Canada Day and this year promises to be yet another fabulous celebration. The festivities will be held on June 30 at the Quyon Legion with a barbecue kicking things off starting at 3 p.m. Little Ray’s Reptiles will be putting on a show for the children at 4:30 p.m. The parade will be leaving from Onslow School at 7 p.m. followed by fireworks down by the Ottawa River at 10 p.m. The party will continue on into the night, with Maestro Joe entertaining at the Legion. Get out your Canada flags and paint the town red and white. Happy Canada Day to all.
