This time of year, the Pontiac is buzzing.
The cottage communities are full, students just finished school for the year, summer has officially started and Canada Day is around the corner.
Canada Day is a great opportunity to kick back and recharge your batteries.
Here in the Pontiac, there are plenty of ways to enjoy all the beauty that this country has to offer.
Give yourself a workout with a view by taking a hike up by the Luskville Falls or the Chutes Coulonge.
Escape the heat by taking a dip in the Ottawa River or one of the many beautiful lakes that dot the landscape.
Head on up to the Capital Cable Park and test your mettle on a water-powered hover board.
This region is full of possibilities.
This long weekend marks one of the very few opportunities families have to spend some quality time together.
Most other times when families get time off, they spend most of their vacation running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
Think about holidays like Christmas or Easter. It’s nice to have the time off but with hockey tournaments, family visits and social functions, that previously-mentioned battery recharge is hard to find time for.
Canada Day marks a time when the kids are home from school, many sports have slowed down during the dog days of summer and mom and dad are able to take some time off from work.
It pulls at the heartstrings to see a kid fishing with their old man on the lake or watching a mom gardening with her children.
This time of year offers families a chance to enjoy each other’s company, but it’s also nice to get some solitude.
Dust off those old golf clubs and get out and enjoy one of the area golf courses. Or just grab a cold one, park your keister and soak up some sun while you catch up on your latest book or podcast.
But let’s be honest, it’s the parents that benefit the most this time of year.
Had a long day and don’t want to drive your son or daughter to their friend’s house? No worries! Since the weather is so nice, they can just hop on their bikes, something that’s not so easy to do with a foot of snow on the ground.
Here at THE EQUITY, we do our best to cover as many events in the community as possible. During the winter doldrums, the amount of events tend to dwindle compared to the summer months.
Which is understandable considering the population explosion the region sees in the warmer months.
So get out there and experience some of the many offerings of the Pontiac. Enjoy the beautiful country we get to call home and although a 151st birthday isn’t as sexy as 150, it’s still an impressive enough number to raise a cold one too.
Happy Canada Day from
THE EQUITY.
