Another busy year has come and gone. We are all looking forward to the sunny days of summer.
Card parties were held during the winter for our Peruvian child and the Coady Institute.
Marianhill Birthday celebrants were treated to special entertainment as our Group of Five delighted them with their Irish selection and old time favourites. Birthday cake and special cards with enclosures were part of the get-together. This visit is always a special event for them and for us.
Catechism classes have concluded for another year. Thirteen children received their First Communion in May. Bishop Mulhall was here to confer the sacrament of Confirmation in June.
Our membership is 91 members this year. We have lost another few of our long-time members again this year.
It is time again to make our yearly donations for graduation prizes at DWKS and to our parish supper draw come fall.

June 12th was our annual June Dinner. Gail welcomed a record crowd of 80. Father Tim said grace and a delicious roast beef dinner followed. Caterers Cheryl and Sandra Smith did another wonderful job.
Our guest speaker for the evening, renowned storyteller Mary Cook, was introduced by Charlotte Sunstrum. Mary had everyone’s attention as she related some of her beloved stories. She recalled meeting Mrs. Ethel Sullivan (our Gail’s mother-in-law) years ago. Her story about this special lady (one of Mary’s unsung heroes) won her a special award. She also spoke about her dreams as a youngster. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed her. Our thanks to Charlotte for suggesting her.
Gail then presented several members with special league pins in recognition for years of service. Mary (Bert) Lapierre (75 yrs.) Frances Fleming (60 yrs.) Loella Gagnon and Patricia Carroll (50 yrs.) Rita Allistair (25 yrs.) and Carole Kidd (10 yrs.)
The evening came to a close with several draws. Dave Clyde was the lucky recipient of Mary Cook’s latest book, The Best Job in the World. Many other guests went home with pretty pots of impatience compliments of Waltham Greenhouse
Appreciation was once again expressed for donations of squares throughout the year for funeral luncheons.
CWL activities and meetings will resume again in September. We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer.
