MUNICIPALITY OF PONTIAC
Dec. 21, 2017
The Municipality of Pontiac has adopted its 2018 budget.
The budget amounts to $8,062,331 – an increase of 2.6 per cent over the 2017.
The main priorities of the budget aim to set aside more funds for training and hiring firefighters, increase the budget for dust control agents by 25 per cent, increase the budget for parks and recreation services by $60,000 and reserved $40,000 to start the home composting project.
The yearly tax increase amounts to 1.97 per cent compared to last year, which means homeowners will pay just over 59 cents for every $100 of valuation on their property.
The 2018 budget will be mailed to every household in January.
“The main challenge of this budget was to minimize the tax increase while responding to the priorities of the citizens of Pontiac and dealing with the increase in shares required by the MRC des Collines,” said Mayor Joanne Labadie.
