Greetings to a brand new year 2019, may it bring to all of you dear faithful readers many blessing of health, happiness, love peace, joy and prosperity.
I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. On Christmas Eve, we attended our beautiful Christmas mass. Fr. Justin Bertrand celebrated mass assisted by the altar servers. The choir sang the traditional Christmas hymns. The children sang “Away In A Manger” and carried up gifts at the offering. Afterwards, we went out to Rhonda and Mark’s for drinks and appetizers with family and friends. On Christmas morning, we opened our gifts and enjoyed a tasty brunch at Rhonda and Mark’s. We had a lovely Christmas dinner at Mike and Jodi’s in Embrun. The Holgate side of the family were also there to join in the festivities. On Boxing Day, our Cornwall family joined us at Jodi and Mike’s.

Then on Thursday, Alex, Mikaela and Ben came home with us. They enjoyed skating with Bella on the Waltham out door rink in the middle of town. Mike came up on Friday evening and spent the night. On New Year’s Eve, we attended mass, which Fr. Réal Ouellette celebrated then spent a quiet evening. On New Year’s day we had brunch with family and friends and dinner with Rhonda and Mark.
Our heartfelt sympathy thoughts and prayers are with the Hayes family in the recent passing of Teresa Hayes, of Sheenboro, Que. She was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen “Mae” Berrigan and Gilbert Hayes and the dear sister of the late Elmer Hayes. Teresa was a member of the Secular Institute of the Oblate Missionaries of the Immaculate Mary for over 60 years.
Jeannette Gagnon rang in the New Year by celebrating her birthday on Jan. 1. We hope that you enjoyed your special day Jeannette.
