We were saddened to hear of the passing of Bridget (nee Ryan) Carroll of Temiscaming, Ont. Bridget was the beloved wife of the late Yvan Carroll. Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with family and friends.
Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the Larivière family of Campbell’s Bay in the recent passing of Jean-Guy. In 1970, Jean-Guy was elected as a member of the National Assembly where he served the people of county Pontiac-Temiscamingue with pride and dedication for 11 years.
On Friday evening, Larry and I attended Wayne Rostad and Friends Christmas In The Valley Concert at Festival Hall in Pembroke, Ont. Gail Gavan, stepdancers and fiddlers also performed. We all joined in singing traditional Christmas songs. It really got us into the Christmas spirit. Santa also made an appearance. Wayne and all the performers put on an amazing concert. All the profits from the concert are going to CHEO.
Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Larry Gagnon and his family of Fort Coulonge, Que. in the recent passing of his dearly loved mother, Rose.
On Saturday evening the annual Christmas supper was held at the Waltham Town Hall. This traditional Waltham event was very well attended, as neighbors and friends chatted, reminisced and renewed the bonds of friendship. Mayor David Rochon welcomed everyone.
Mayor Rochon presented Elizabeth Ethier with a plaque as she celebrated a milestone 90th birthday this past year. Everyone enjoyed a tasty turkey supper with all the trimmings.
On Sunday afternoon, the children in Waltham enjoyed a Christmas party at the Waltham Town Hall. They enjoyed making crafts, ginger bread houses and treats. Santa paid a special visit.
Kayla Soucie-Moreau is celebrating her birthday on Dec. 7 and Brenda Bertrand-Rehel on Dec. 8. We hope that you enjoy your special day girls. Best wishes to all others, who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this coming week.
I cannot believe that this is the first week of Advent in the church calendar. It is a time to reflect, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Have a safe and a happy week everyone.
