I hope everyone enjoyed the last long weekend of the summer. I cannot believe that it is September already. Where has the summer gone?
On Friday evening, we took in the Shawville Fair. We enjoyed the food, the bisque’s, the horse competitions and the entertainment. We even took a ride on the ferris wheel. It was nice meeting and chatting with Connie Gray and her daughter Leanne.
Warm birthday wishes are extended to Mary Pilon, of Pembroke, Ont. who is celebrating her birthday on Sept. 7. We hope that you have a lovely day.
Maggie Duff, daughter of Anne and Chris Duff is celebrating her ninth birthday on Sept. 8. Enjoy your special day Maggie.
Birthday wishes are extended to Sue Ethier, who is celebrating her birthday on Sept. 10. Enjoy your special day Sue.
Anniversary wishes and love are extended to our dear neighbours Betty and Earl Grieve who are celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11. May you share many more years of God’s richest blessings.
Residents of the Black River/Green Lake and the general public should be aware that the municipality of Waltham will be temporarily closing the Black River Road (Rivière Noire) from Sept. 10 to approximately Sept.14. It is necessary to make critical repairs to the road at the site of what was once referred to as Butter Hill. Spring flooding and run off has weakened the road and it is now necessary to shore up that section for public safety. Residents and regular users of the road should make plans based on the fact that the road will be impassable until repairs are complete.
