Our condolences and deepest sympathies go to Art Belanger, formerly of Waltham, Que. and his family on the passing of his wife “Hun” Olive Belanger (Turner) on . . .
Dec. 12 at the Timmons and District Hospital. For most of their 65 years of marriage they worked and raised a family of seven in Listowel, Ont. In the early 1990s they decided to move to Northern Ontario so he could do some fishing and hunting. In Folyet she enjoyed decorating those little northern homes, doing crafts with friends, cooking and fishing. A special aunt indeed.
Get well wishes go out to Mary Mcleese who has returned home after a short stay at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Birthday greetings and best wishes go out to Sandra Morris and her son Greg who celebrate on Dec. 18 and to Roy Gagnon on Dec. 19.
We would also like to welcome Michel Morency and Cathy Overton, new residents to Sheenboro. They purchased their home from Barb Myres back in the summer and are now living here full time. Great to have you in Sheenboro.
Hydro seems to be restored to everyone in the area but Sheenboro’s landline problem still continues. The residents had no landline when the hydro was off for 12 hours which means they are not able to contact family, the ambulance, police or the fire department. After getting through to Bell and support from Sureté, a Bell technician came and charged the batteries to restore the landline service later in the day. Bell needs to come up with a better system for our community. As I was reminded yesterday, technicians have a large territory to cover and are not always available.
On another note, Pontiac Ouest Fire Services were very busy this weekend with two fires, one in Chichester and the other on Allumette Island. I believe the rescue equipment had to be brought to Rapide. Also Sasha and Dagmaar’s home in Chichester is still without hydro. Hopefully it will be restored soon.
