On Saturday evening, the annual Christmas supper was held at the Waltham Town Hall. This traditional . . .

Waltham event was very well attended, as neighbors and friends chatted, reminisced and renewed the bonds of friendship.

Mayor David Rochon welcomed everyone. The mayor also addressed the issues that arose from the devastating flooding that occurred in Waltham this past spring and throughout the entire region. He acknowledged that many of the hardest hit residents are still reeling from the destruction and their attempts to recover from their losses have been painfully slow and difficult. He also referred to the generous outpouring of neighbours, friends and families, the support from the Waltham fire department, the municipal public works staff and many kindly neighbouring municipalities, individuals and local companies who offered great support to help with the protracted battle against the flood waters. In closing, the mayor offered his thanks to everyone who offered their efforts and support through this difficult time in our municipality.

On behalf of the RA, Megan Rochon and Ashley McGuire spoke and thanked all those who helped prepare for this wonderful annual dinner. Thanks to the efforts of these volunteers, everyone enjoyed a tasty turkey supper with all the trimmings.

Our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the Fleury family of Chapeau in the recent passing of Lorenzo “Rozo” Fleury.

On Sunday afternoon, Rhonda, Isabella and I attended the Nutcracker at the National Art Center in Ottawa. It was an amazing performance.

Melanie Malette of Gatineau, Que. is celebrating a birthday on Dec. 12. Enjoy your special day Melanie.

Stephanie Ryan is celebrating a birthday on Dec. 16. Have a wonderful birthday Steph.
