I would like to send out a special birthday wish to Pat Mahoney who turns 65 on Jan. 16. You finally caught up to me. Another special birthday that I missed was Jessica Pepin who turned 25 on Jan.19. I hope you both had a wonderful birthday.
I would like to send out a special thank you to my next door neighbour, Jerry Pepin who is a real sweetheart, and cleaned out my chimney on Saturday in that freezing cold weather. He told me it was completely blocked at the top so it was very dangerous. When he came back down from the roof and came to see how I was doing in the basement I took one look at him and burst out laughing. He looked like the chimney sweeps from England because all I could see were the whites of his eyes and his teeth. I am so lucky to have such great neighbours thank you.
Please get your chimneys checked because a fire can happen so quickly. I was probably one fire away from having a chimney fire. I know my chimney is getting blocked when I open the door of my woodstove and the smoke comes back in to my house. I guess everyone’s stove is different but that’s how I can tell.
I would like to send out my condolences to the friends and family of Leonard Kluke who passed away Jan. 17 at the age of 91. He was the husband of the late Joan Sparling and father to Judy (Alain Gauthier), Lorna (Dennis Kearns), Gerry (Roxanne Bertrand), Jim (Laurel Hearty).
I would like to wish the following people a very happy birthday to Steve Morin, Lise Crawford both on Jan. 23, Merlyn Brown and my sister Lynn Leach on the Jan. 26, Liam Hewitson, Maurice Beauregard, Joan Frost all on Jan. 27, Cecile Smith on Jan. 28 and Suzanne Pilon on Jan. 29.
Happy anniversary to Hal and Lise Crawford on Jan. 24 and to Andy and Bertha Holland on Jan. 25.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since my Karl (with a “K”) passed away. It seems like yesterday and I still miss him dearly. He was taken away way too soon.
Now we really are in the thick of winter with the temperature dropping below -40° with the windchill. Many people are having problems with their water pipes freezing and I know that I’ve been going through a lot of wood in the past week. I hear that it supposed to be 1° on Wednesday. That will be a relief but it sure is hard on the system. Oh well the next thing you know it will be Groundhog Day and then only another six weeks left until spring.
