What a wicked weekend we had. First it rained, then snowed, then sleet, rain, . . .

snow, snow, snow then sleet, rain and a topping of more snow. I don’t know if I have the order right but that’s what it was like in Vinton. When it was all over we had about six inches of snow and six inches of rain. Then the clean up began. It took me an hour to get the truck cleaned off. The doors were frozen shut and the ice layers made it hard to remove the snow. Good thing I have remote start so I could warm up the truck from the inside.

We got an early morning scare from the Pickering Nuclear Station that later got retracted. It did petrify a lot of people who live in the area.

I’ve had a really bad cold for the past week and it doesn’t seem to want to leave me. I haven’t been able to do anything which upsets me, but what can you do but wait it out.

Last week, I stated that the Litchfield Dump was closed on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 with no notice. I stand corrected because the office called me and told me that they did have notices up. Here are the four ways in which we could have found out: on the website; notice board at dump; notice board at Vinton Church; notice board at municipal office.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Jeanette Lepack and Helen Ranger on Jan. 15, Pat Shea on Jan. 16 and Allan Junior Pepin on Jan. 20.

We would also like to send out anniversary wishes to Willard and Lizanne Kluke who celebrate on Jan. 21.

The annual Lions Club Murder Mystery will be held Feb. 15 at the RA Centre in Campbell’s Bay. Help support the Lions and purchase your tickets early from one of the members.
