If there is anything my son is in love with it’s trucks. Big trucks, small trucks, tractors and construction vehicles – anytime he sees them pass by he gets so excited. We’ve been known to pull over and watch a tow truck hook a vehicle on, watch cars get unloaded from a car transporter and watch town vehicles doing their work. There’s so much to learn about these big vehicles.
We are so lucky in a small community like this to know many of the people who drive these vehicles. To our children these operators are everyday heroes. How cool is it that they get to spend every day driving in the trucks that they love so much.
Our first ever Touch-a-Truck in 2016 was a huge success, so it’s no surprise that we have been aching to do it again.
Events similar to ours have been running in Ottawa and other cities for many years. One of the things we love to do is bring some of the great activities you can find in the city to our town for our children to enjoy and this summer we can’t wait to host Touch-a-Truck.
On July 7 the Fairgrounds in Shawville will be filled with vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Children will get to meet the operators, climb up into the trucks and honk the horns. It’s loud and exciting as they get to see all their favourite vehicles up close and personal.
Even though trucks are the star of the show there are many other fun things to do that day. There will be horse rides by GELAM Stables, a bouncy castle, face painting, Paw Patrol meet and greet, ice cream, treats and pizza available to purchase.
We want to thank the many businesses and vehicle operators who have offered to bring their equipment to our big event. We couldn’t do this without the support of the community. If you or someone you know has a cool vehicle, big or small, farm, construction or personal, to participate in our event give us a call or send us an email. We still have room for a few more.
We hope to see you out with your kids on July 7 from 10-2 at the Shawville Fairgrounds for our second Shawville Touch-a-Truck.
There will be no charge for entrance, however, the Parents’ Voice Shawville will be accepting donations.
