Dear Editor, The Pontiac region has experienced an unprecedented number of hydro outages in the past year. The complete loss of power has occurred unexpectedly with no notice and no obvious cause such as high wind, heavy rain or snow.
The municipalities of Pontiac, Bristol, Clarendon, Portage du Fort and Shawville were hardest hit, with around 3,000 homes still disconnected from the power grid on Friday at noon, thanks to many downed trees and power lines across the region.
Following an outage that left thousands in the upper Pontiac without power early last week, local officials are calling on Hydro-Québec to offer better short-term fixes to the region’s frequent outages while residents wait for a new substation. A storm
