A surprise 80th birthday party for Loella Gagnon was held at Northfork on Saturday afternoon. It was a bit of a shock since she was supposed to be coming over to measure curtains for Frances. Loella belongs to the Starlite quilters of Chapeau and has turned out many masterpieces. Her knowledge of quilting has been a great benefit to beginners like myself.
On Saturday evening, Lloyd Parsons of Pembroke, Ont. dear partner of Doreen Picard, also celebrated his 80th birthday at George’s Bar in Chichester. Mike Fox did a wonderful recount of Lloyd’s life.
On Nov. 14, the MRC held at L’Ancienne Banque an Environmental Rendezvous with tips on recycling and composting for the citizens of the Upper Pontiac. I always manage to come away with at least one tidbit. Instead of using fabric softener you can use wool balls that can be purchased, or you can reuse old pieces of 100 per cent wool to make balls for your dryer. The wool balls will also reduce drying time.
Also a reminder to everyone that our garbage bins must be compost free by 2020.
