Our condolences and deepest sympathies go out to the Morris family on the passing of Eloise Morris (née Burger) of South Porcupine, Ont., on June 8, 2019. She was married to the late George Morris and was a dear sister-in-law of Betty Morris of Sheenboro. A memorial service was held at St. Joachim’s Parish on Wednesday, June 12.

Birthday greetings and best wishes go out to Glyn Fleury on June 17 and to Jack Perrault on June 22.

Last week, Frank and Janet Retty went to North Bay, Ont. where their grandson Teagan graduated with a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and received the President’s Gold Medal. He will return to Nipissing University next year to do his Master’s in Kinesiology with a very nice scholarship.

Congratulations to Nelson Morris who was selected best actor in a Canadian feature film called Paralles Loft. The award was received from Hollywood North Film in Toronto.

Congratulations go out to our youngest grandson, Kris Ranger, who will be graduating from Jeanne Lajoie this year. He applied for and got accepted at Algonquin College for the Electrical Pre-Apprentice program. How that programme works: It’s free – costs for textbooks, safety equipment and tools are covered for eligible applicants. The training starts in June 2019 and runs until January 2020. In order to qualify he had to submit an application first, in that phase. The applicants were then reduced to 120 approximately. An aptitude test was required with final interviews to select the 20 students for the program. A great start to a career.

The water is on the rise in Sheenboro once more. Let’s hope not too high.
