Congratulations to Dr. Morgan Welburn and Philip Sweezey on the arrival of their baby girl, born on Sept. 4. They named her Noah Brooklinh, and she is a granddaughter for Denny Welburn and Shelley Fraser, and a great-granddaughter for Tom Fraser. Wishing the new parents all the best as they welcome little Noah into their family.
The Quyon Legion had a beauty of a day on Saturday for their annual golf tournament, which was held at Astra Estates. A chicken dinner was served at the Legion after the tournament, followed by entertainment from the band Rambler BLVD. I hear they had a great turn-out and everyone had a fantastic day.
The Quyon Legion will continue to have a busy week with more activities planned for National Legion Week. This Thursday, Sept. 19, they will be hosting an Appreciation Day, offering up a free BBQ and kick-starting their membership renewals for 2025. On Friday, they will be holding a Dart Tournament, and on Saturday a Washer Tournament. All of the details are posted on the Quyon Legion’s Facebook page. They are inviting everyone to come on out and join in their celebrations.
Birthday wishes are going out to Bart Stanley and Josh Armitage, both on Sept. 19. We also have birthday wishes going out to Madeline Ostrom and her great-grandpa Bruce McKay, as they share their special day on the 20th. Happy Birthday also to Enjolie Provost and Rob Fraser on the 20th. Happy 1st birthday to Isla Philippe, celebrating on the 21st. Birthday wishes are going out to Charlotte Dowe on the 21st, to Emily Johnston and Tiffany Young, both on the 22nd, and to Jeff Campbell on the 23rd. Best wishes to everyone marking special occasions this week.
It is wonderful to have a place to go for breakfast in Quyon again, as Gavan’s Hotel has started serving breakfast in the lounge on weekends, with the plan to serve seven days a week in the near future. Not only that, they have generously re-named their most popular breakfast “The QCA”, and $1 from each QCA breakfast sold will be donated to the Quyon Community Association. What an awesome gesture on behalf of Gavan’s Hotel to support the community. A big shout out to Team Gavan’s for doing this.
