I hope everyone enjoyed the Labour Day weekend and had a fantastic time at Shawville Fair. The weather was great, with only a few showers here and there. The midway was busy as always, and there was always something to take in, whether it be the 4H shows, horse shows, tractor & truck pull, demolition derby, awesome musical performances, and so much more. I had fun entering a few items in the handicraft and writing exhibits, as I really enjoy that competition aspect of the Fair. It was a terrific time, and kudos to the many fairboard members and volunteers for putting on another successful Shawville Fair.
Congratulations to Tessa Young and Chris Romain, as they were married on Aug. 30, at Loch March Golf & Country Club in Carp, Ontario. The happy couple said “I do” in a beautiful outdoor ceremony, followed by cocktails, speeches, and a fun reception. We had a terrific time celebrating with the newlyweds, and we wish them all the best as they begin this next chapter together as husband and wife.
Our condolences to the family of Frances Leach, as she passed away on Aug. 29 at the age of 99.Thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones as they grieve.
Birthday wishes are going out to Collins Fleck, as she turns 3 on Sept. 6, and to Adam Johnston and Glenna Campbell, celebrating on the 7th. Happy Birthday to Raymie Duquette and Hayden Hobbs, both on the 9th, and to my brother Luke Young on the 10th. Best wishes to everyone marking special occasions this week.
We have a few days to rest and recover, as another big weekend is upon us with Community Day coming up on Sat. Sept. 7. The Quyon Community Association will be hosting this event in conjunction with Quyon Sports & Rec, as they are hosting a 3-pitch tournament this weekend, as well as Cow Pie Bingo. The Quyon Lions Club are also involved, and they will be serving a delicious roast beef dinner on Saturday night at the Quyon Community Centre. Meanwhile, the QCA has an amazing line-up of entertainment starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, featuring Arnold Trudeau and Larry Chevrier, Rolly Bernier and the gang, Lorne Brady and friends, The Town Pants, Amber Prudhomme, Rick King, and Gail Gavan. The day will also be filled with fun activities for children in the park, as well as the ever-popular “Wall of Wonderful” prizes. It’s an event you won’t want to miss. Looking forward to seeing everyone out this weekend at Community Day.
