Last Friday evening, Aug. 16, the minor ball season came to a close as the final games were played in Shawville. I was very happy for my nephew Noah Young, as his U-9 Shawville team defeated another team from Shawville. Way to go buddy! In the U-12 division, Quyon took home the big win over Shawville, and in the U-17 division, Shawville were the winners over Quyon. It was a great night of ball, and a big congratulations to all of the players on a wonderful season. Special thanks also goes out to the parents and volunteers who keep things rolling, whether by coaching, umping, managing schedules, etc. It is terrific to see minor ball going strong in the Pontiac.

Congratulations to Cade Kuehl and Hunter Beauregard, two young Pontiac fastball players who also play for the Quyon Flyers men’s fastball team. They played for Team Quebec in the Softball Canada U20 Men’s Canadian Championship in Carp last week, and they came away with the bronze medal. I hear they both had a big week and played very well. Way to go guys.

Birthday wishes are going out to Hannah Lang on Aug. 28, to Denis Renaud on the 29th, and to Isla Harris on the 30th. Lots of love and good wishes are going out to Dianne Leach, as she celebrates her birthday on Aug. 31st. Happy birthday also to Georgia Fleck, Olivia Gravelle, and Leslie Stanton on the 31st, to Atlas and Nixon Davis, Stacy Johnston, and Reese MacKechnie all on Sept. 1, to Therese Demell on the 2nd, and to Wendy Provost and Wynn Armitage on the 3rd. Blessings to everyone celebrating special occasions this week.

The Quyon Community Association is hard at work preparing for Community Day, which is coming up on Sept. 7. They announced a list of entertainers that have been confirmed, which includes Arnold Trudeau & Larry Chevrier, The Town Pants, Gail Gavan, Lorne Brady & friends, Rolly Bernier & the gang, Amber Prudhomme and Rick King. More are to be announced soon, as well as a schedule for the entertainment. You won’t want to miss this exciting day in Quyon, as Quyon Sports & Rec will also be hosting a ball tournament and Cow Pie Bingo on the same day. We can’t wait.

It is hard to believe Shawville Fair weekend is upon us again. That also means it is back-to-school time, as well. The summer always seems to fly by so very fast. Wishing all of the students, teachers, and staff a wonderful year as they return to the classrooms this week. I also hope everyone has a terrific weekend at the Fair. I am really looking forward to it. See you all there.
