Congratulations to Mike and Meghan Baker on the arrival of their baby boy on Aug. 13. They named him Cal, and he is a little brother for Cooper and Mack. Best wishes to the Baker family as they settle in with their newest little boy.
Get well wishes are going out to Dianne Leach, as she is in hospital. The whole community is thinking of her and sending prayers for a quick recovery.
On Thurs. evening, my sister and I enjoyed a lovely evening at The Barn Sunflower Farm in Shawville, painting sunflowers in the sunflower field. This paint night was led by Emily McCann of McCann Artt Studio, and it was such a fun, relaxing evening.
Quyon Sports and Rec have been selling 50/50 tickets all summer and they did the big draw last week. Congratulations to Natasha Curley, as she had the winning ticket.
Quyon played host to a ball tournament this past weekend, as the Quyon Camp of Champions was held. The tournament has become a fixture in town, held every year to raise money for Special Olympics and mental health initiatives. Despite the weather being less than ideal, I hear they had another successful weekend. It was also nice to see Gavan’s Hotel offering up $2 from every fry or poutine sold during the tournament towards the Camp of Champions cause. Kudos to all involved.
Our sympathies are going out to the family of Hansel Brownlee, as he passed away on Aug. 13. Thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.
Birthday wishes are going out to Abigail Côté and Kayla Duquette, both celebrating on Aug. 21. Happy Birthday to Sarah Kavanagh and Garry Trudeau on the 23rd, and to Lynn Leach and Donald McKenny on the 25th. Happy days to everyone celebrating this week.
The Quyon Library will be hosting a Book and Bake Sale on Sat. Aug. 24, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can fill a bag with as many books as you can for only $5. What a great deal. Please plan to attend and show your support for our little local library.
