I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Mitch Lapierre on December 5th. I worked with Mitch for years at Mountainview, and you couldn’t ask for a more friendly, funny, kind, and helpful man. His ability to fix anything and everything was legendary. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marlene, Chad, Chelsea, and all of his loved ones. He will be dearly missed.
Last Monday evening, the Quyon Pastoral Charge hosted the Christmas House Tour. This year, the tour featured the homes of Marise Gauthier and Brian Beaudoin, Martine Perrier, Caryl and Andre Cote, and Anik and Stephane Monast. Each house was decorated so beautifully, and everyone was put in such a festive spirit getting to see all of the neat ideas, beautiful lights and displays. Refreshments were served in the church basement, and the UCW also had a fun gift game to play. Door prizes were won by Sarah Kelly, Isabel Daoust, Nancy MacLean, and Cathy Dolan. A big thank you to all who came out on the tour, we hope you enjoyed it.
This past weekend was bustling with festive fun in town. On Friday evening, Quyon United Church hosted a performance of The Princess and the Goblin, the live radio play by the Pontiac Community Players. It was a delightful evening of story and song, and those who gathered really enjoyed the show. Kudos to the cast on a job well done.
On Saturday, the Quyon Legion held a Kitchen Party as they were also having their Holiday Raffle draw. The crowd was entertained by a great group of musicians, including Donald Foran, Cal Cummings, Garry Cummings, and Carl Trudeau. The winner of the Ninja cooler filled with cheer was Jeff Trudeau. The Ottawa 67’s balcony seating for 10 was won by Maurice Grenon.
Saturday evening, Santa Claus was in town for the Quyon Lions Club’s annual Parade of Lights. It was pure Christmas magic as the snow was falling, and so many awesome floats, vehicles, and horses went by just twinkling with lights. A big shout out to all who participated, it was fantastic. After the parade, children gathered at the Community Centre to sit on Santa’s lap and receive their bag of treats. Hot dogs and hot chocolate were served courtesy of the Quyon Legion. It was a magical evening of Christmas fun.
