Deepest sympathy is extended to Shannon Purcell and her family on the passing of her father, Barry Purcell, on Oct. 1. Our prayers are with you, Shannon, as you grieve the loss of your dad.

Last Thursday, the Quyon Family Centre hosted a delicious Spaghetti Supper at the Community Centre to fundraise for this year’s Snowsuit Fund. It was great to see the hall so full of supporters. Tickets were also sold on a fantastic array of prizes that were drawn, with many people taking home beautiful baskets and prize packages. Kudos to the Family Centre for all their hard work in putting on this supper.

On Saturday, the Quyon Lionettes hosted their annual Car Rally, with over 40 teams participating this year. The theme was “Apocalypse”, and the organizing team of Mallory Peck, Jarret Peck, Kayla Beaudoin, and Keith Dubeau put together a challenging and fun Rally route as we dodged zombies, viruses, and other apocalyptic hurdles in an attempt to survive. It was a gorgeous fall day, perfect for Car Rally, and at the end of the day, the big winners were Karen Cull, Brad Cull, Nicole Belaire, Brandon Belaire and Shannon Johnston. Costume prizes were as follows: 1st place Jodi Bodkin, 2nd place Barb Shoobert, and 3rd place Brandon Belaire. The winner of the 50/50 was Lynn Leach. I had yet another fun Rally day with my team, and we are already looking forward to next year.

Birthday wishes are going out to Rilen Richardson on Oct. 26. Happy 2nd birthday to Louisa MacKechnie, celebrating on the 27th. We also have wishes going out to Paisley Thomson on the 28th, and Brady Trudeau on the 29th. Blessings to all celebrating specials occasions this week.

Casse-Croute du Village chipstand has closed for the season, with this past Saturday being their last day. Thanks to Jason Meranger and his staff for another great year.

Don’t forget that this coming Saturday Gavan’s Hotel will be hosting their annual Halloween party. DJ Dave will be playing great tunes, and there will be prizes for the best costumes. I’m sure it will be a fabulous night of spooky fun.
