On Saturday Nov. 9, the Quyon Community Centre was bustling with activity, as the Onslow Home & School Committee hosted their annual Christmas Craft Sale. It was a very successful day, with many shoppers coming through all day long to check out what the terrific array of vendors and artisans had to offer. I had a great time visiting with folks who stopped by my table of Watkins products. The Home & School Committee also served up a delicious lunch, with a selection of soups and chili to choose from, as well as hot dogs, cookies, muffins, and more. It was a great day and I hope many of you found some great gifts and stocking stuffers.

The Quyon Legion held their Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph on Sun. Nov. 10. It was a grey and chilly afternoon, with a nice crowd gathered to pay their respects. Soldiers from CFB Petawawa and two bagpipers paraded from the Legion to the Cenotaph, along with the Quyon Legion executives. Cal Cummings led the ceremony, while prayers were offered by Father Christian Kakule of St. Mary’s Parish and Pastor Patricia Power of the Quyon Pastoral Charge. Many wreaths were laid on behalf of community groups, local dignitaries, and in memory of loved ones. A luncheon followed afterwards at the Legion.

Happy belated birthday to Rose Hamilton, as she celebrated on Nov. 8. Birthday wishes are going out to Bill Hamilton today, Nov. 13, to Hannah Dowe on the 14th, and Ray Cavan on the 17th. Blessings to all who are marking special occasions this week.

The Christmas House Tour presented by the Quyon Pastoral Charge is coming up, with four fabulous houses lined up for the tour. We have two houses that have done it before with Caryl and André Côté, and Anik and Stephane Monast. Both have completed renovations since then, and have fresh ideas and décor to change it up. We also have Marise Gauthier and Brian Beaudoin, who own a home rich in local history that is still fondly referred to as “The Inglee Farm”, as well as Martine Perrier, who owns the Gavan house. I have tickets for anyone who is interested in joining us for the tour. We are very excited to have these four houses taking part this year.
