I hope all of the moms out there had a terrific Mother’s Day weekend. The weather was nice and it was a great weekend to get out the barbecues and enjoy time outdoors.
Despite the nicer weather, the flood waters rose again over the weekend. However, as I write this I understand they won’t be surpassing the peak reached two weeks ago. I think I speak for everyone when I say it can start going down anytime now. Everyone is ready for a break from this terrible spring we’ve been having.
In my column last week, I mentioned that the Quyon Legion was planning to host a 1980s themed Ladies Night last Friday evening. Due to the flooding situation in Quyon over the past few weeks they have decided to postpone the event with the future date yet to be determined. Apologies for any inconvenience. Stay tuned for the re-scheduled date.
We have some big belated birthday wishes going out this week. Happy first birthday to Griffin Fraser as he celebrated on May 10. I’d also like to send out belated wishes to Sara Beer-Dowe on May 12 and my aunt Marion Draper on May 13. Blessings to everyone celebrating this week.
A while back, the Pontiac Community Gym put out a plea for contributions towards purchasing an AED defibrillator device for the gym and once again our community has pulled through. They proudly announced that the gym is now equipped with an AED and are grateful to the gym members, TJ Refrigeration, Mountainview Turf and Hawley Lepine for making this happen.
The last soup and sandwich lunch of the season is being held at Quyon United Church today at 11:30 a.m. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy a delicious lunch and a great visit with friends and neighbours.
