Congratulations to Lynn Kearns and Steve McCord on the arrival of their first child. They welcomed their baby boy, Jack Benjamin on March 13. First time grandparents are Earl and Nicole Kearns and he is another grandson for Robert and Janet McCord. We wish Lynn and Steve all the best with their little bundle of blue.
Best wishes are also going out to Shellbie Greer and Nathan Graham as they too welcomed a little boy. Baby Emmett was born on March 12 and I hear both mom and baby are doing well. Congratulations to Shellbie and Nathan.
St. Patrick’s Day is over for another year and what a weekend of celebrating it was in Quyon. The young women of the Quyon Pastoral Charge hosted the annual Irish Tea on Saturday and we had a full house. Everyone came decked out in green to enjoy sandwiches, squares and tea and we had a wonderful time. The lucky winner of the basket O’ Irish Fun was Diane Drummond. The support for this event is greatly appreciated. The next event coming up will be a spring vendor sale hosted by the Quyon UCW which will be held on March 30 in the Quyon United Church basement. Be sure to mark your calendars.
On Saturday afternoon and on into the evening, the Quyon Legion was the place to be as they held their annual St. Paddy’s Day Kitchen Party. There was a great crowd out to enjoy the talents of many local musicians who brought out their guitars and fiddles to celebrate.
Then on Sunday, Gavan’s Hotel was bursting at the seams with St. Pat’s revelers and the crowd was a giant sea of green. Word was out that owner Nick Matechuk is retiring and this would be his last St. Patrick’s Day party so everyone came out to celebrate with him and toast him for his many years of carrying on the traditions of Gavan’s. A big thank you to Nick and we hope he enjoys his retirement and spending time with his family.
Big eighth birthday wishes are going out to Annie Schwartz on March 21 with love from mom, dad, Oliver, and Fletcher. We also have birthday wishes going out to Brittany Ramsay on March 22, to Clark Hamilton, his dad Jared and to Tianna Young, all celebrating on March 23 and to Courtney Stanley on March 24.
