What a snowy winter we are having. The storm we had last week closed schools and forced many people to stay home and keep off the roads. It has been a challenging winter for all of those working in snow removal and they are doing a great job.
We had a great day enjoying the fresh new snow on Saturday, skating and sliding at my sister and brother-in-law’s home in Chelsea at the foot of the Gatineau Hills. If you can’t beat it, might as well get out and enjoy it.
The new blanket of snow arrived in perfect time for the Vintage Sled Run which took place on Sunday. The snowmobilers gathered at the Legion in Constance Bay, Ont. for breakfast before parading over to Gavan’s Hotel in Quyon where the old sleds were on display for the afternoon. They returned to Constance Bay for dinner and a presentation of awards. They had a beautiful day for it. I’m sure everyone had a great time.
On Sunday afternoon, I attended a baby shower in honour of Lynn Kearns, which was held at Onslow School. Many of Lynn’s family and friends were there to shower the mom-to-be with gifts and good wishes. She and Steve McCord are expecting their first child in March and we are all so excited for them.
Big birthday wishes are going out to Finnley and Raelynn Hobbs as they turn one on Feb. 20. Happy birthday to Sarah McKenny and Ian Dagenais celebrating on Feb. 21, to Tanner Belland on Feb. 22, to Isaac Côté on Feb. 23, and to Eleanor Foran and Dryden Frobel on Feb. 25. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
Deepest sympathy is extended to Jo-Anne and Guy Marcotte as Jo-Anne’s mom, Pat McCauley passed away on Feb. 15. The family is in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
We were sorry to hear of the passing of Rev. Stanley Ralph on Feb. 11. He was the minister at Quyon United Church from 1981-1984. Rev. Ralph baptized me and while I don’t remember his time here in Quyon, I was so glad to meet him and his wife Agatha at the church’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2009. Our condolences to his family.
