Mountainview Turf held their company Christmas luncheon on Nov. 30 in the shop. It kicked off with a delicious turkey dinner catered by Billy T. We played several games and also had a Texas Horseshoe tournament.
This year, plaques were presented in recognition of years of service to the following employees: Ryan Woermke for 10 years, Doug Kennedy and Ron Campbell for 20 years, Chris Dowe for 25 years, and Alvin Johnston for 30 years. We had a wonderful afternoon and evening celebrating another busy and successful season.
On Saturday, I attended St. Paul’s Anglican Church tea and bazaar in Shawville with a lovely group of young ladies from Quyon. We enjoyed our tea and had a great visit. It’s one event I always like to attend as I have fond memories of going for tea with my Grandma Schock when I was a child.
The Quyon Legion hosted a turkey dinner fundraiser on Sunday evening and there was a good crowd out to enjoy the delicious meal. Claire Mulligan and her family organized the event on behalf of the Legion and it was excellent. The Legion also held a Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament on Saturday and I hope everyone had a great time.
The Legion members will be keeping busy throughout the month of December, as they have their annual Christmas Bingo coming up on Dec. 16 and they will also be hosting a New Year’s Eve party.
We have a new restaurant in Quyon once again. I enjoyed my first breakfast at the Pit Stop on Sunday morning and the food and service were both top notch. The restaurant is located on Highway 148 across from Trudeau’s Body Shop. We wish the new owner Lee Marrazzo and his staff all the best and feel grateful to have a place to eat in town again.
This week, we have birthday wishes going out to Dustin Young on Dec. 5, to Bucky Fleck on Dec. 6, to Tessa Young and Willow Brownlee on Dec. 7 and to Glen Provost on Dec. 11.
The Young family is also sending lots of love and good wishes to Garry Young as he celebrates his birthday on Dec. 10. Uncle Garry has been having a tough go lately and isn’t feeling very well so we are all keeping him in our thoughts and prayers.
Santa Claus is coming to town this Saturday. The Quyon Lions Club will be hosting the annual Santa Claus Parade on Dec. 8 at noon. The parade will depart from St. Mary’s Church and end at Onslow School where Santa will greet the children in the school gymnasium. Hot dogs, hot chocolate and treats will be served. Get your parade entries ready and we are all looking forward to this beloved community event.
