I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We celebrated with a delicious family dinner at my mother’s on Saturday and attended a joy-filled church service at Wesley United Church in Beechgrove Sunday morning.
The weather was also great for the Pontiac County Fair which was held all weekend long at the Luskville Falls. I hear it was once again a big success. Kudos to all involved in organizing this event.

Sunday was Father Olivier’s last day serving at St. Mary’s Parish and the day was marked with the special occasion of two baptisms. Cooper Baker, son of Michael Baker and Meghan Smith, as well as Griffin Fraser, son of Rob Fraser and Sarah Kavanagh, were welcomed into the family of God in a beautiful ceremony. Congratulations to the families of Cooper and Griffin and a special thanks to Father Olivier for his service to our community.
St. Mary’s Parish has welcomed Rev. Christian Kakule as their new priest with Thanksgiving Sunday being his first service. He will be looking after St. Mary’s in Quyon, St. Edward’s in Bristol and St. Francois d’Assise in Wolf Lake. He has already set up residence in the rectory at St. Mary’s. Welcome to our community, Rev. Kakule.
Big birthday wishes are going out to Lindsay Hamilton and Beverley Stanley on Oct. 12 and to Sandra McCann on Oct. 13. I’d like to wish a happy birthday to my nephew Caden Provost, as he becomes a teenager on Oct. 14. Happy birthday to Dale MacKechnie, Ben Duquette and Mitchel Trudeau, also on Oct. 14. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
The Quyon Lions Club have started their annual Community Calendar campaign, and are taking orders if anyone wishes to reserve a calendar for 2019. You can contact any member of the Lions Club or call Rolly Bernier at 819-647-5043.
A digital creation workshop (modeling and 3D printing) will be held at the Quyon Library on Oct. 14 in English, and Oct. 21 in French. These workshops are geared towards young people between the age of seven to 17. Please register by contacting the Quyon Library. This workshop is being offered free of charge.
