Congratulations to the Quyon Flyers on winning their first Greater Ottawa Fastball League title. The team traveled to Manotick on Sunday afternoon, to take on the Kars Aces in the final game. It was a close, exciting match-up, with Quyon taking it 4-2. Matt Greer was the winning pitcher and Nick Armitage played a key role, hitting two home runs in the game. It was nice to see the Quyon fans who made the trip to watch the game and we were all glad we were there for the big win. Way to go Flyers.
The Quyon Family Centre hosted their annual harvest spaghetti supper at the Family Centre on Saturday and they had a terrific turn out. They had a goal to raise more funds than last year and easily surpassed that goal. The proceeds will go towards the Snowsuit Fund. Kudos to all of the organizers, volunteers and contributors.

Our thoughts are with the families of Dale Thomson and Helen Campeau as they both passed away last week.
Birthday wishes are going out to Sharon Hobbs today and to Joan Foran on Oct. 4. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
Happy retirement to Suzanne Lyndon who has decided to leave her position at the Quyon Library. Her role will now be filled by Glenda Nitschke.
Congratulations also to Kelly Wilkinson of Kelly’s Green Thumb, the garden centre in Shawville, as she is closing her business after 12 years. Kelly is holding a customer appreciation event on Oct. 13 so be sure to stop in and bid her farewell.
Saturday marked the end of an era for our friends in Norway Bay, as Henderson’s Store closed after over 35 years in business. I have many fond memories of stopping at Henderson’s for a treat as a kid when we’d be out for Sunday drives (my dad even called me “Treat Young” because of this) and a day at the beach was never complete without a stop at the store.
It’s now October, which means the Quyon Lionettes Car Rally is just around the corner. This beloved community event will be held on Oct. 20. If you haven’t booked your time yet call Donna Provost at 819-458-2655. Looking forward to one of my favourite days of the year.
Wishing everyone a wonderful upcoming weekend. We all have so much to be grateful for, all year long. Hoping everyone celebrates with family and delicious food. Happy Thanksgiving.
