unpleasant mix of rain, freezing rain, ice pellets and snow. It was a perfect weekend to stay hibernating indoors and I was lucky I had no need to go outside. Now my fingers are crossed that we get some snow as I’m itching to get out snowshoeing.

Congratulations also to Tyler and Fanie Helmer as they welcomed the New Year’s baby in the Outaouais for 2020. Their baby girl Lexi-Anne was born in Gatineau, Que. making headlines in our area as the first baby born of the New Year. Best wishes to the family as they settle in with their little girl.
Happy birthday to Julia Bernier and Sharon Young, both on Jan. 16. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Marguerite Gibbons as she passed away on Jan. 4 at the age of 103. She will be missed by the Tracey, O’Hara and Pittman families as she was an aunt and second mother to them.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mary Brouse who passed away on Jan. 12 at the age of 98. Mary’s granddaughter, Stacy Johnston, is my oldest friend so I have known Nanny Brouse my whole life. She was a strong, determined woman and I always enjoyed chatting with her. Sympathy is extended to her husband Bob and all of Mary’s loved ones at this sad time.
