This past Friday evening, the streets of Quyon were filled with the joyful sounds of Christmas carols, as a truck and trailer (donated by Mountainview Turf) transported a festive . . .

group of us around town carolling. It was such a fun evening and I hope it was enjoyed by those who were out along the route. A big thanks to Mitchel Trudeau for organizing the event, as well as decorating the truck and serving up treats at the Pontiac Community Gym and to Garry Trudeau for driving us around. I had a wonderful time. “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”

The annual Sunday School Christmas Pageant and White Gift service were held at Quyon United Church this past Sunday morning. The children did such a fantastic job of sharing the story of the birth of baby Jesus with the congregation. Several of the older kids narrated the story while the rest did a wonderful job as shepherds, angels, wise men, and the Holy Family. We even had a few cute little animals in a pen. Kudos to all involved in putting on the pageant. We enjoyed it so much.

The Quyon Pastoral Charge’s Christmas Eve service will be held at Quyon United Church at 7 p.m. and all are welcome. The church will be closed on Dec. 29. Services will resume on Jan. 5 at Wesley United Church in Beechgrove.

Speaking of Quyon United Church, there is another big event coming up this Dec. 20 as the Pontiac Community Players will be bringing their live radio play production of Little Women to the church. The show starts at 7 p.m. There is no admission price, just a free will offering at the door.

The Quyon Legion held their Christmas Bingo on Sunday afternoon. As always there was a big crowd out to try their luck. The winners took home turkeys and hams. Next up for the Legion is their big New Year’s Eve party featuring the band Third Bass. You can get your tickets at the Legion or by contacting Darlene Morris. It is always a great party and a wonderful way to ring in the New Year.

I’d like to send birthday wishes to one of my readers, a former Quyon resident now living out in Calgary, Bob Steele. He has shared with me that he is celebrating a “significant” birthday today. Have a great day and year ahead Bob. Birthday wishes over the next few weeks are going out to Leah Côté on Dec. 28 and to Glenda Nitschke on Dec. 29. Our family is also sending out big birthday wishes to my sister, Kara, as she celebrates on New Year’s Eve. Best wishes to everyone marking a special occasion during this holiday season.

The Quyon Ferry closed for the season this past Sunday. Thank you to Captains Ralph and Ed McColgan for another great year. I know their commuters will anxiously await their return in the spring.

This will be my last column before Christmas, so I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for their support and for sharing their news and wishes throughout the year. I look forward to continuing to share the Quyon news in the New Year. Have a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2020.
