Congratulations to Sue Chabot and Adam Johnston on the birth of their first child, a boy on Dec. 5. They named him . . .
Owen Douglas. He is the first grandchild for MerryJill Chabot and a fifth grandchild for Debbie and Alvin Johnston. Wishing the family all the best with their new little bundle of blue.
Best wishes are also going out to Brittany McKenny and Kris Belsher on the safe arrival of their baby girl Hannah on Dec. 9. She is a little sister for Emeric, and a grandchild for Janet and Leo McKenny and Joan and Robert Belsher. Congratulations to the whole family.
Mountainview Turf celebrated another great season at their annual Christmas Party on Nov. 29 with a luncheon in the shop. Billy T catered a delicious turkey dinner and there was plenty of fun throughout the day. This year, plaques were presented to Roger Trudeau for 20 years of service, to Terry Provost for 30 years of service and to Ray Johnston for 40 years of service. It was a wonderful festive celebration.
The Christmas House Tour was held on Dec. 2. It was a beautiful crisp evening to be out to tour the amazing décor at the homes of Anik and Stephane Monast, Laura and Rob Hobbs, Isabel and Doug Schwartz and Heather and Adam Sally. Each home was so unique and well done. Door prizes were won by Myrna Palmer, Marilyn Desabrais, Marise Gauthier and Susan McCleary. A light snack was served in the Quyon United Church basement throughout the evening. The support for this fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
Santa Claus was in town on Saturday and it was a gorgeous afternoon for the annual parade hosted by the Quyon Lions Club. Kudos to all of the local businesses, organizations and individuals who participated by entering floats in the parade. They all looked fantastic. I was fortunate to have many excited little ones in my front yard who were thrilled to see Santa go by. They also got to meet him at the new community centre where they got to sit on his lap and put in their wishes for Christmas. Treats and refreshments were also served. It was such a fun, festive day for our community.
Birthday wishes are going out to Amelia Dowe, turning two on Dec. 14. I’d like to wish my niece Danica Provost a happy birthday, as she turns 11 on Dec. 15. Happy birthday to Jenna Laframboise, also on Dec. 15 and to Quin Young and Brett Stanley on Dec. 17. Best wishes to everyone celebrating this week.
There is more festive fun coming in the days leading up to Christmas. This Friday evening, a community caroling event is being organized by Mitchel Trudeau starting at 6 p.m. I am so looking forward to it.
On Dec. 15, the Quyon Legion will be hosting their annual Christmas Bingo.
Folks should also mark their calendars for Dec. 20, as the Pontiac Community Players are bringing their Little Women Radio Play to Quyon United Church that evening. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
